Permaculture design services
Design for humans and nature
Permaculture design differs from standard landscape design in that it considers and balances a very wide range of factors. From exploring how water flows through the landscape to where the sun shines. From understanding how you want to use your land or garden to ensuring biodiversity. From designing in resilience to a changing climate to managing pests and more - every permaculture design involves deep systems thinking and analysis. There are no cookie-cutter approaches. This means a considerable amount of reflection and time goes into each design. This process is thoughtful, human and nature-centred.
Dr Cally Brennan has been designing permaculture gardens and acreages for 12 years. After experimenting with CAD she chose a hybrid approach where technology enhances, rather than obliterates, the human touch. She designs on a tablet, using aerial maps and photos to underpin her to-scale drawings which she chooses to hand-draw and colour. Trees and shrubs are gently shaded with a slight 3D effect so it's easier to visualise the garden it represents. The result is an attractively analogue-looking design that's more intuitive and easy to read than a computer-rendered vector plan. It is also a beautiful and unique piece of art, made with love, care and time, that is tailored to you and your needs. You may wish to print and display it on your wall.
